Jay is a licensed California attorney based in Los Angeles. His practice includes entertainment and sports transactions, art transactions, commercial transactions, copyright, trademark, and corporate law.
He has worked with a broad range of clients, including but not limited to corporations, talent managers, management companies, motion picture companies, streaming companies, actors, artists, recording artists, producers/production companies, influencers, record labels, writers, directors, and entrepreneurs. Amongst his colleagues and clients, Jay is known as a fierce negotiator who brings a creative approach to legal transactions. His knack for assessing complex matters and designing creative solutions while educating his clients separates him from the competition.
Jay graduated from Western State College of Law. Western State College of Law is the oldest law school in Orange County, home to some of the most affluent people in California, which has allowed him to gain invaluable knowledge and connections. Western State College of Law has graduated thousands of attorneys in addition to hundreds of judges all over California.
While in Law school, Jay earned honors for Academic Excellence in Legal Writing and Research. Jay served as a member of the Black Law Student Association (“BLSA”) and the Entertainment & Sports Law Society. Before attending law school, Jay obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (“Cal Poly”). During his tenure at Cal Poly, Jay received multiple academic honors. Jay also possesses an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Mount San Antonio College (“Mt. Sac”).
Prior to embarking on his legal journey, Jay honed his entrepreneurial spirit by spearheading a successful training company and assisting others in the formation of their ventures. His distinctive edge in the legal field is sharpened by a diverse background in entertainment—as a talent manager, actor, and model—and is further bolstered by substantial experience in insurance and finance. These multifaceted experiences have crafted Jay’s comprehensive understanding of various industries, underpinning the specialized legal services he offers with a depth of real-world insight.
During law school, Jay gained invaluable experience as a business transactions and litigation law clerk. In this role, he assisted various clients with a range of transactions and agreements, including but not limited to business formation structures, partnership agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
After law school, Jay began working in civil litigation, primarily focusing on fire law and insurance law, where he assisted in the defense of various national companies. He participated in multiple settlements, some reaching into the multi-millions of dollars.
Despite his accomplishments in civil litigation, Jay recognized his desire to have a more significant impact on clients’ lives. Wanting to stay true to his roots, he returned to the entertainment and business law sector by accepting a position at another firm. Driven by a desire to enhance the lives of athletes, creatives, and entrepreneurs, Jay founded Generational Law Group. His focus is on ensuring all his clients are best positioned to obtain generational wealth.
When Jay is not negotiating, researching, drafting agreements, or consulting with clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He enjoys playing and watching sports, such as basketball, football, golf, boxing, and tennis. Jay also enjoys speaking to the youth, adults, and businesses about the importance of setting yourself up for generational success.
